What is a day home?

A day home provides parents with formal child care services in a home setting.

Alberta Children’s Services through Child and Family Services Authorities is responsible for overseeing the delivery of child care programs. This responsibility includes the licensing and monitoring of regulated child care facilities, as well as contracting with local family day home agencies to screen, approve and monitor individual family day home providers, as required by provincial standards.

You will come across many day homes that are not approved or licensed through a day home agency and therefore are not monitored by Alberta Children’s Services. Please be cautious as you make your decision in order to protect the well being of your child.

Below is a list of legal day homes in Cochrane. These homes have the required Development Permit and business license through the Town of Cochrane.
